Principals for a Day
Did you notice the school running any smoother? That is because we had two wonderful students be Principals for a Day on Friday, June 5th. Leo Kim in Mrs. Yamasaki's class and Brooke Barnard from Mrs, Pester's class were awarded for their excellent participation in this year's Jog-A-Thon and got to serve as our school's leaders. They had a busy day of running the Spirit/Blue Ribbon Assembly, updating the website, observing on the playground, visiting classrooms, and having lunch with Mr. Baker. Victor Students Victorious at Elementary Track Meet
Victor Track Team raced to the finish at the 5th Annual Torrance Track meet on Friday, May 29, 2009. We had many students earn ribbons, but all students did their Victor Viking best! The 3rd grade team earned the first place trophy over all the other 3rd grade teams. The 4th grade team earned 2nd place overall, and the 5th grade team earned third. Congratulations Victor Track!

International Pot Luck Dinner
On Thursday, April 16th the Victor Community got to experience the culture of over 12 nations! Many Victor staff, students and family ate food from around the world-- Korean, Japanese, Lebanese, Indian, Mexican, Serbian and Chinese to name a few! Victor Kinder-Garden Grows!
The Kindergarten Garden on Victor street reopened on March 4th, thanks to the hard work and generous donations of some Victor parents and some special friends of Victor. We are so grateful for the donations of time and materials provided to us by Rob Friedrich and Sharon Houston of Friedrich-Houston Enterprises. We are thankful for the support of Mrs. Snyder and her class, the Nakahira Family, Mrs. Flemming, Mrs. Shetty, Mrs. Weber, and Mrs. Harb. Watch our garden grow!! Conflict Manager Program Begins at Victor
To ensure that our students have a resource to help them resolve their conflicts peacefully, we have started a Conflict Manager program. On Monday, February 23rd, thirty-eight of our 4th and 5th grade students were trained at West High School to be Conflict Managers. These students will work during their lunch and recess times and assist students who are having disagreements to come to a "win/win" resolution. We would like to thank our counselor, Jill Warner, and the rest of our Conflict Manager Team- Mr. Sam Gonzales, Ms. Ayn Cleveland and Mrs. Christenson, for working with our Conflict Managers. MacDonalds Night a Huge Success
Victor Elementary would like to thank all families who attended our MacDonalds McTeacher Nights on February 17th and 19th. It was a HUGE success. Our PTA raised over $1300! Special thanks to Mrs. Tanabe and Ms. Mike for coordinating. Please click here to see pictures from these evenings.

Victor Recognizes Honorary Service Award Winners
All administrators, teachers and staff at Victor Elementary would like to sincerely congratulate our recent Honorary Service Award winners. Special honors go out to our wonderful parent volunteers Debbie Tanabe, Meiling Tyler, Barbi Voelzke, and Yasuyo Watanabe. They truly help make Victor Elementary school distinguished! Victor Students Go To College
On Sunday, January 11th, One hundred and twenty seven Victor students attended U.C.L.A.'s "I'm Going to College" Day. Students got an extensive tour of the Westwood campus, participated in many fun college oriented activities, got autographs from U.C.L.A. athletes, and even attended a Woman's basketball game. Victor Elementary Brings In The Holiday Season!
Students and teachers brought in the Holiday Spirit by participating in many festivities including performing Holiday Classics at our Winter Program, singing for our families and community, and decorating our Adopt-A-School partner, Golden Spoon, with student created holiday cards. Best of all, during our Friday Spirit Assembly, the teachers at Victor sang a wonderful version of Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer to show their true holiday spirit!Click here to see pictures.

Torrance Elks #1948 Donate Dictionaries to Victor 3rd Grade Students

Victor Kindergarteners Celebrate Thanksgiving: Kindergarten students had the opportunity to make maize, fish in a stream, work in a cranberry bog and hunt for buffalo during their Native American Day. Click here to see pictures.

October 2008:
Victor Elementary Hosts Japanese Student Teachers: In partnership with Lighthouse, Victor hosted two student teachers from Japan. Both students got the opportunity to observe in Mrs. Christian's and Mrs. Tokunaga's kindergarten classrooms. Click here to see pictures.
