No Medicine at School

Now that flu season has arrived in full force we are finding a number of students who are bringing medicine to school and actually have it in their possession.  This is strictly not allowed and could lead to a suspension.  If a child requires taking medicine at school, they must get a release from their Doctor that must be submitted to the office.  Should you have any questions, please contact our Health Clerk, Ms. Abe.

Help Support Victor Students

As you are very aware, the Victor PTA’s sole fundraiser this year is through a direct donation program through our website and E Blast.  This is done at other schools with great success and requires a lot less work than the cookie and wrapping paper sales of the past.  Our goal for this year is to reach $30,000.  We mistakenly stated $60,000, but with us reaching $30k, we will still be able to provide all the great programs and support our PTA offers.

Currently, we have had 70 donations equaling $5370, which is an average donation/student of $76.71.  We have been doing this for 8 days and have 13 days remaining. At this pace we will hit about $14,100 and 185 donations by the end of the campaign, barring an increase in volume, (which we have actually seen the last few days).  The good news is that the average donation is higher than we expected.  The bad news is we are moving slowly. We know these are tough financial times, but even if a family contributes a total of $30 per student, which would help us achieve our goal, they can spread that cost over 10 – 12 months!  That is $5 – $6 per student a month!

As of today, the top fundraising classrooms are, in order, Mrs. Kooker's 5th Grade class, Mrs. Popp's 3rd grade class, Mrs. Shortell's 4th grade class, Mr. Laureno's 1st grade class, and Mrs. Mac Leod's 5th grade class.  The highest level of classroom participation is 5th grade parents!  Go 5th grade!!  The highest dollar amount from one classroom is $510.

Do know that families and community members can also donate by giving a check written to Victor PTA.  If you do receive any checks, please give them to your child's teacher or drop it off in the office. We appreciate your support.

Please support Victor by making a one time donation or monthly donation by clicking on  Direct Donation.  For more information, please click here.

P.T.A. Reflections Project

This year's theme for the PTA Reflections Program is "Beauty is..."

There are six categories in which your child may compete in:  Literature, Musical Composition, Photography, Visual Arts, Dance Choreography and Film Production.

Entry forms with detailed rules for each category are available in the School Office.

Please make sure that your child follows the rules for the category that they select.

The entry for the deadline is Thursday, October 29th at 1:00 p.m.  Your child may turn in their entry any time from now until October 29th to their teacher.  If at all possible, please don't wait until the last day for your child's entry to be turned in.

Suggestions:  Please have your child write their name on the back of their submission - not on the front.  Please fill out the entry form completely.  This year I have added a space for your child's room number and the teacher's name (it makes it easier to return their submission to them once the competition has been concluded).  Some of the entries will be displayed in the school library.

Principal Baker will be taking the winners out to lunch!  Also, the winners from Victor will be competing against the winners from all of the other elementary schools in Torrance.  If your child is fortunate to win again, then their submission will be competing against elementary schools in Los Angeles County.

If you have any questions, please call Jeannie Fuller at 310-542-3109.
